Since the beginning of war on Gaza | 41 combatants, including leader of “Al-Quds Corps,” killed in 37 attacks by Israel forces in Syria

Israel continues to violate Syria’s sovereignty through escalating its aerial and ground attacks on military positions, weapons warehouses, trucks, international airports and military headquarters. Meanwhile, the recent attacks were concentrated on combatants of the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian-backed Syrian and non-Syrian militiamen.

According to SOHR statistics, since the war on Gaza, Israel has targeted Syrian territory 37 times, 13 ground attacks with rocket shells, 23 air strikes, and one strike not known whether it was air or ground. The attacks resulted in the killing of 41 combatants and two civilians. The military fatalities are: 14 regime soldiers and gunmen loyal to them, and 18 members of Lebanese Hezbollah, two of Syrian nationality loyal to Iran, and three members of IRGC, four of non-Syrian nationalities working with Iran.

SOHR documented 71 attacks in 2023: 47 airstrikes and 23 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 138 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 120 combatants and injured 134 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 40 members of regime forces, including officers.

  • 37 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • Seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

  • Eight Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • 24 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • Two members of “Al-Jihad Al-Islami” organisation.

  • Two Unidentified people.

In addition, those attacks left three men and a woman dead and other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 27 attacks.

  • Al-Qunaitrah: 16 attacks.

  • Hama: two attacks.

  • Tartus: three attacks.

  • Aleppo: eight attacks.

  • Al-Suwaidaa: four attacks.

  • Daraa: 13 attacks.

  • Homs: four attacks.

  • Deir Ezzor: two attacks.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
