Amid high security alert and deployment of Russian forces | Iranian-backed groups cease strikes on occupied Syrian Golan for ten days

SOHR sources have reported that Iranian-backed groups have ceased their attacks on the occupied Syrian Golan since early 2024, except for only one attack carried out on January 1.

It is worth noting that Russian forces have established nine observation posts in the following villages and towns in the western countryside of Al-Quneitra: Al-Qahtaniyah, Be’r Ajam, Bariqah, Kodna, Al-Mu’alaqah, Al-Rafid and Ghadir Al-Bostan, as a part of efforts to ease the tension in the region in light of the escalating exchange of attacks between the so-called “Syrian Resistance for the Liberation of the Golan” and the Lebanese Hezbollah on one hand, and Israeli forces on the other.

Meanwhile, areas in the southern and south-western Rif Dimashq and Sayeda Zeinab district experienced strict security measures by Iranian-backed groups and the Lebanese Hezbollah, amid a state of high alert. This coincided with the escalating attacks by Israel which targeted Syrian and non-Syrian commanders of Iranian-backed groups.

It is worth noting that Hezbollah-backed groups stationed in Syrian territory carried out 17 rounds of rocket attacks on the occupied Syrian Golan.

On the other hand, Israel carried out 49 attacks: 30 airstrikes and 19 rocket attacks by ground forces, on Syrian territory since the beginning of the brutal offensive on Gaza in October 2023.
