Afrin | Member of “Sultan Murad” faction dies under torture in prison of “National Army”

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that a member of “Sultan Murad” faction from “Al-Ghazi” family of “Al-Muwali” tribe was tortured to death by members of “Abu Walid Al-Azzi” faction and “Al-Amshat Division in a prison of the “National Army.” This followed accusations against four young men from “Al-Muwali” tribe of kidnapping a civilian from Afrin, where three young men were released, because accusations against them did not proved, while the fourth young man died under torture.

This coincided with reports on mobilizations by gunmen of “Al-Muwali” tribe, who blamed “Al-Amshat” and “Sultan Murad” factions for the death of the young man whose body was taken to the military hospital in Afrin city.

On January 28, SOHR sources reported that members of “Al-Hamza” Division arrested a civilian, a few days ago, from Juwayq village in Afrin countryside north-western Aleppo for “performing military service during the Autonomous Administration’s control of Afrin.” The faction’s members asked the family of the arrested civilian to pay a ransom of 3,000 USD for his release.

On the other hand, members of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” arrested, on January 24, two displaced young men from the southern countryside of Aleppo, while they were heading from a camp in Azaz countryside to their work in north Aleppo countryside. The reasons behind arresting the two young men and their fate remain unknown.
