Turkish Jandarma continue their violations against Syrians seeking safe haven

Syrians seeking a safe haven continue their attempts to sneak into neighbouring countries, especially Turkey, disregarding the threats to their safety and live and challenges they face while traveling on dangerous routes used by smugglers. The most of those routes are monitored by the Turkish border guards (Jandarma) that monitor the border strip and border wall that stretches along a large part of the border between Turkey and Syria and attempt to arrest and torture the largest number of Syrians approaching the border.

Since early 2024, SOHR activists have documented the death of a man and a child and the injury of another man and a child due to gunfire and brutal torture by Turkish Jandarma, while they were attempting to cross the border wall in Idlib countryside adjacent Iskenderun Region, seeking a safe haven. In addition, a child was lured to Turkish territory and brutally beaten and tortured by Turkish border guards.
