Old ordnance | Unexploded shell fired during drills by Coalition leaves two children dead and another injured in Al-Hasakah countryside

Al-Hasakah province: Two children were killed and another was severely injured due to the explosion of unexploded shell fired during drills by International Coalition Forces in Al-Masoudiah village in Tel Baydar countryside in northern Al-Hasakah countryside.

 

It is worth noting that the children were herding sheep in the surrounding area of Tel Baydar base.

 

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 15 civilians, including 14 children, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2024. In addition, 25 civilians, including 22 children and a woman, sustained various injuries.

 

The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Regime-controlled areas: Eight fatalities, including seven children, and 17 injured civilians, including 17 women and 14 children.

 

  • SDF-held areas: Seven fatalities, seven children, and eight injured children.
