ISIS tactic | Young man injured by the explosion of booby-trapped body of civilian killed earlier by ISIS in Al-Masrab desert

Deir Ezzor province: A civilian was killed in an armed attack carried out today by ISIS members on a group of shepherds in Al-Masrab desert.


The attackers booby trapped the body of the victim and left it in the site of the attack. A few hours later after searching for the man, a young man found the booby-trapped body and attempted to draw the body, before it exploded and injured him.


Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that armed men from “ISIS” cells, launched an attack with light weapons, starting from depth of the Syrian desert, on a group of shepherds near Al-Madhoul road in Al-Masrab desert, west of Deir Ezzor, within areas controlled by regime forces and Iranian militias. They kidnapped three shepherds and stole some sheep and fled to an unknown destination in the depth of the desert, and the fate of the shepherds remains unknown.


According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2024 has increased to 150; and they are as follows:


  • 19 ISIS members were killed by regime forces and their proxy militias.


  • 115 members of regime forces and their proxy militias, including 13 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen, were killed in 58 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions, in west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs.


  • 16 civilians, including a child, were killed in attacks by ISIS in the Syrian desert.


Here is a regional distribution of ISIS attacks:


-Deir Ezzor desert: 20 operations left 37 fatalities:


  • 32 combatants, including seven Iranian-backed militiamen.


  • Two ISIS members.


  • Two truffle pickers.


  • One civilian.


-Homs desert: 28 operations left 70 fatalities:


  • 50 combatants, including three Iranian-backed militiamen.


  • 14 ISIS members.


  • Six civilians.


-Al-Raqqah desert: Five operations left 17 fatalities:


  • 14 combatants.


  • Three ISIS members.


-Hama desert: Four operations left 23 fatality:


  • 16 combatant.


  • Seven civilians, including a child.


-Aleppo: One operation left three Iranian-backed militiamen dead.
