Old ordnance | Child killed in landmine explosion in SDF-held areas

Al-Hasakah province: A six year-old child was killed in the explosion of a landmine of war remnants in Al-Rahiya Al-Sawda Village in Tel Hamis countryside northern of Al-Hasakah within SDF-held areas.

Accordingly, SOHR has documented the death of 38 civilians, including 18 children and seven women, due to explosions of old landmines, unexploded shells and bombs across Syria since early 2024. In addition, 46 civilians, including 30 children and a woman, sustained various injuries.
The casualties are distributed regionally as follows:
– Regime-controlled areas: 28 fatalities, including eight children and seven women, and 37 injured civilians, including a woman and 21 children, 16 of whom including six women were killed and nine were injured while searching for truffles.
– SDF-held areas: Ten fatalities, ten children, and nine injured children.
