Major security tension | Mobilization following infighting between formations of regime forces in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: Security and Military Forces mobilized in Deir Ezzor following clashes between armed military formations in the city, and the formations brought reinforcements to the location of the clashes, where armed clashes erupted between the Military Police and the “National Defence” militia in Cinema Foaad Street in Deir Ezzor City for unknown reasons.

On the same context, several members were injured in clashes between the “National Defence” and “Osoud Al-Sharqiya” in Al-Sijn (Prison) Street and Al-Dalla Square in Al-Joura Neighbourhood in Deir Ezzor City.

On February 26, SOHR sources reported that members of a regime security patrol arrested seven members of a theft ring, including three members of the National Defence Forces and a girl, in Deir Ezzor city.

According to SOHR sources, the gang members are accused of “robbing shops and houses in the city.”

On February 24, SOHR sources reported that members of the regime forces arrested a commander of Osoud Al-Sharqiya militia that is affiliated to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards after storming his house, where the forces confiscated a large amount of narcotics in the house in Al-Joura Neighbourhood within areas of regime forces and their militias.

Osoud Al-Sharqiya militia is also known as “Al-Shoa’itat” that is affiliated to the “National Defence” forces.

While on February 10, SOHR sources reported that a patrol of the regime military police arrested a member of the National Defence Forces, after chasing him in Cinema Foad Street in Deir Ezzor city, after having thrown a grenade on the patrol’s members. The man was taken to a security centre and his fate remains unknown.
