Fourth crime in less than 24 hours within regime areas | Elderly man strangled inside his house in Homs

Homs province: The body of a man in his seventh decade was found, strangled inside his house in Al-Sabil neighbourhood in Homs city. According to information, the killer is accused of drug abuse, and had a personal dispute with the victim, as he decided to take revenge with his friend’s cooperation. After committing the crime, they stole a sum of money and personal items, while local authorities intervened and arrested the perpetrators.
This comes in light of the security chaos within regime-held areas, as this is the fourth crime in less than 24 hours that left four victims including a woman in Homs, Deir Ezzor and Daraa.

The Syrian Observatory has documented 64 murders in regime-controlled areas since the bingeing of 2024, where domestic violence and armed robberies were behind some of these murders, while motives behind the others remained unknown. These murder crimes left 67 fatalities, including 13 women, 51 men and three children. The fatalities are distributed regionally as follows:

Daraa: 19 murder crimes left 13 men, including six women and a child dead.

Al-Suwaidaa: Six murder crimes left four men, a woman and a child dead

Rif Dimashq: Ten murder crimes left seven men, three women and a child dead.

Homs: Nine murder crimes left nine civilians dead.

Hama: Four murder crimes left four civilians dead.

Al-Hasakah: Two murder crimes left two civilians dead.

Deir Ezzor: seven murder crimes left six men and a woman dead.

Damascus: Three murder crimes left a woman and two men dead.

Lattakia: Two murder crimes left two men and a woman dead.

Tartous: Two murder crimes left two men dead
