First day of Ramadan | High prices and scarcity of rescue and emergency goods

Markets of Al-Raqqa City are witnessing a significant increase in prices of nutritional goods, vegetables and meat on the first day of Ramadan, while owners of money exchange stores refrained from exchanging USDs to Syrian Liras under the pretext of the unstable exchange rates.

In return, the prices of basic nutritional goods have risen such as “oil, butter, rice, flour, vegetables and meat”, where civilians cannot afford the prices of these goods due to the limited salaries.

Most international and local organizations working in Raqqa have stopped distributing cash and emergency goods in most neighbourhoods of the city with lack of job opportunities, widespread of unemployment, and a trend toward foreign migration in search of work and a better standard of living.
