“Journey of dea*th” | 11 people searching for truffle kil*led in IS*IS attack in Al-Raqqa Desert

At least 11 people were killed due to the explosion of a landmine to a car carrying them, while searching for truffle in Al-Hamma Desert in Al-Raqqa Desert, where ISIS cells attacked them with machineguns after the explosion of the landmine.

The victims are: Two civilians and nine members of the “National Defence”, where three people were kidnapped and their fate remains unknown.

On the same context, residents and gunmen of the region went to search for missing people and to retrieve the bodies.

According to SOHR statistics, the number of fatalities in military operations in the Syrian desert since early 2024 has increased to 243; and they are as follows:

• 24 ISIS members were killed by regime forces and their proxy militias.

• 182 members of regime forces and their proxy militias, including 16 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen, were killed in 92 operations by ISIS members, including ambushes, armed attacks, and explosions, in west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Homs.

• 37 civilians, including a child and a woman, were killed in attacks by ISIS in the Syrian desert.

Here is a regional distribution of ISIS attacks:

-Deir Ezzor desert: 34 operations left 83 fatalities:

• 60 combatants, including seven Iranian-backed militiamen.

• Five ISIS members.

• 18 civilians, including 17 truffle pickers, among them there was a woman.

-Homs desert: 41 operations left 94 fatalities:

• 68 combatants, including three Iranian-backed militiamen.

• 16 ISIS members.

• Ten civilians, including two truffle pickers.

-Al-Raqqah desert: Ten operations left 29 fatalities:

• 29 combatants, including two Iranian-backed militiamen.

• Three ISIS members.

• Two civilian truffle pickers.

-Hama desert: Six operations left 31 fatality:

• 24 combatant, including an Iranian-backed militiaman.

• Seven civilians, including a child.

-Aleppo: One operation left three Iranian-backed militiamen dead.
