Ongoing violations | Members of military police brutally beat minor and his mother in Mare’ city

Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported that members of the military police in Mare’ city in northern Aleppo have brutally beaten a minor and his mother who tried to keep the members of the military police away from her son. The minor and his mother were taken to the hospital due to the various injuries they sustained.

According to SOHR sources, the military police members beat the boy and his mother because they refused to hand over the father and the elder son, who are wanted by the military police over an earlier fight among children, so the members of the military police arrested the younger boy instead.

This comes as a part of the escalating security chaos in areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxy militias.

On January 25, SOHR sources reported that a commander of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” faction and his escorted members brutally beat a civilian in his work place in Azaz city in the northern countryside of Aleppo and took him to the headquarters of the faction. The civilian was later released, after circulation of a video footage showing the faction’s members while beating and kidnapping him.
