Ongoing violations | Ankara-linked services release three civilians in exchange for large sums of money and unknown fate pursues two others in Afrin

Aleppo province: Ankara-linked services released a civilian from the Kamruk village in Shara district in Afrin countryside, in exchange for a financial ransom of 1,500 USD. According to SOHR activists, the civilian was arrested in March of this year, on charges of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration, after his return to his hometown in Afrin, coming from areas of displacement in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
It is noted that the civilian works in the field of transporting water tanks in Afrin.
Meanwhile, Al-Shamiyah Front arrested a civilian in Izaz city in the northern countryside of Aleppo, on charges of dealing with the former Autonomous Administration. The civilian is 46 years old, hails from Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) city, lives in Tarnadah village in Afrin countryside and works in the field of drilling wells, while members of the faction demanded a ransom of 10,000 USD from his family in exchange for his release, while his fate remains unknown since the date of his arrest on April 8.
Moreover, a civilian from Deir Suran village in Sharan district in Afrin countryside was also released in exchange for a financial ransom of 6,000 USD, after his arrest in December 2023, on charges of human smuggling.
A civilian from Omar Oshaghi village, in Rajo district, was also released in exchange for a financial ransom of 5,000 USD, where he was arrested days after his return to his hometown, coming from areas of displacement in the northern countryside of Aleppo, without knowing the reasons for his arrest.
In addition, the military police arrested a civilian in his third decade, from Baiyah village in Shirawa district in Afrin countryside, while he was reviewing the Directorate of Civil Registration in Afrin, after he was forcibly deported from Turkish territory, demanding a financial ransom of 2,700 USD in exchange for his release, while his fate is still unknown.
All of the above confirms the ongoing violations and abuses by Ankara and its loyal factions against civilians within “Olive Branch” area.
