Ongoing attacks in “de-escalation zone” | Regime forces open heavy machinegun fire on residential areas in Idlib, injuring two children

Two children sustained serious injuries in heavy machinegun fire by regime forces on residential areas in Afes town in Idlib countryside.


Earlier today, SOHR sources reported that a regime soldier was killed by snipers of “Al-Fath Al-Mubin” Operations Room on the frontline of Al-Kabinah in the northern countryside of Latakia.


While in the early morning hours, “Putin-Erdogan” area witnessed an escalation by regime forces, as a kamikaze drone bombed a position of the factions on the frontline of Sahil Al-Ghab area in the western countryside of Hama, in conjunction with an artillery shelling that targeted the vicinity of Al-Sheikh Sindyan village and the frontlines of Al-Sarmaniyah, Al-Qarqour, Dweir Al-Akrad and Al-Fatirah, Kansafrah, and Al-Barah towns in Jabal Al-Zawiyah area. No causalities were reported.


Since early 2024, SOHR has documented 161 operations in the “de-escalation zone,” including attacks by ground forces, gunfire by snipers, bombardment and drone attacks, which left 188 combatants and civilians dead. In addition, these operations left over 67 combatants and 80 civilians, including 12 children, injured.


The fatalities can be distributed as follows:


  • 18 civilians, including seven children and two women.


  • 115 members of regime forces, including ten officers.


  • 47 members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham.


  • Five members of “Ansar Al-Islam” faction.


  • One member of “Jaysh Al-Nasr.”


  • One member of “Jaysh Al-Ahrar.”


  • A foreign jihadist.
