New Israeli strike | Syrian radar system attacked in Daraa after having detected Israeli aircraft

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported hearing loud explosions this dawn, which were caused by Israeli airstrikes targeting a radar system located in an area between Izraa city and Qarfa town in the eastern countryside of Daraa, after having detected Israeli aircraft which entered the Syrian airspace to the flank of east Syria. This coincided with flights by Israeli aircraft over Daraa. However, the regime air-defences did not attempt to intercept the strikes which targeted the radar system. No casualties have been reported so far.

It is worth noting that Iranian-backed militias have been put on high alert, fearing respond by Israeli forces to the latest Iranian attacks with missiles and drones which targeted Israeli positions.

For the past few days, Iranian-backed militias have camouflaged their positions, removed their flags at military posts and been put on high alert in Al-Sukhnah, Palmyra, Al-Qalamoun, Aleppo countryside and areas in Deir Ezzor.

Moreover, the leadership of the IRGC granted a week’s leave to all leaders and administrators within all its headquarters and military positions in Deir Ezzor city and its countryside. It also granted leave to those responsible for the Iranian cultural centres in the cities of Deir Ezzor, Al-Bokamal and Al-Mayadeen, and Hatlah town, for fear of Israeli bombing.

SOHR documented 35 attacks in 2024: 24 airstrikes and 11 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 68 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 129 combatants and injured 47 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 21 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  • 20 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • 12 Iraqi persons.

  • 28 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • Ten Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • 38 regime soldiers.

In addition, those attacks left 12 civilian, including two women, dead and nearly 20 other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 15 attacks.

  • Daraa: 12 attacks.

  • Homs: Three attacks.

  • Al-Quneitra: Three attacks.

  • Tartus: One attack.

  • Deir Ezzor: One attack.

  • Aleppo: One attack.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
