Abandoned new-born babies | Residents find new-born baby in neighbourhood in Idlib city

Idlib province: Residents found a newborn baby abandoned by his family for unknown reasons and dumped in the northern neighbourhood in Idlib city within HTS-held area.

This coincides with the growing phenomenon of abandoned new-born babies over different reasons, mainly the dreadful living conditions and illegal relationships without marriage.


Accordingly, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented 17 cases of abandoned new-born babies in all zones of influence across Syria since early 2024; they are distributed as follows:


SDF-held areas: Ten cases, one of whom was found dead.

HTS-controlled areas: Three cases.

Regime-controlled areas: Two case.

“Euphrates Shield” area: One case.

“Olive Branch” area: One case.
