Military escalation | Turkish soldier and two members of factions injured under regime shelling on Turkish checkpoint in Idlib

A Turkish soldier was injured and was taken to Bab Al-Hawa Crossing on borders with Turkey, due to shelling by the regime forces on a Turkish checkpoint near Saraqib City in Idlib countryside.

Moreover, two members of the factions were injured under the same shelling.

Meanwhile, shells landed on the vicinity of Bensh City and Afis and Sarmin Towns in Idlib countryside.

Turkish forces fired artillery shells and missiles on three military positions of the regime near Saraqib City.

On the same context, violent clashes erupted with heavy weapons between Turkish forces and their factions on one hand and regime forces and Iranian militias on the other hand on Saraqib frontline in eastern Idlib countryside. However, no casualties were reported.

Since early 2024, SOHR has documented 175 operations in the “de-escalation zone,” including attacks by ground forces, gunfire by snipers, bombardment and drone attacks, which left 199 combatants and civilians dead. In addition, these operations left over 85 combatants and 90 civilians, including 14 children, injured.

The fatalities can be distributed as follows:

18 civilians, including seven children and two women.
119 members of regime forces, including 11 officers.
54 members of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham.
Five members of “Ansar Al-Islam” faction.
One member of “Jaysh Al-Nasr.”
One member of “Jaysh Al-Ahrar.”
