Increased activity of local gu*nmen | SDF storms houses and arrests nine individuals for “belonging to and supporting the assailants”

Deir Ezzor province: Military forces of SDF stormed houses in Al-Hawayej Village eastern of Deir Ezzor and arrested nine people accused of “belonging to the local gunmen who attack SDF positions, and for helping them carry out infiltration operations.”

Since the events of Deir Ezzor in late August, local gunmen have been attacking SDF positions, through infiltration operations and almost daily battles, which increases the security chaos and acts of sabotage.

On May 8, local gunmen attacked with machineguns and RPG shells a military checkpoint of SDF in Suwaydan School in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, followed by violent clashes between SDF and gunmen. However, no casualties were reported.

local gunmen targeted an SDF post, with machineguns, in Al-Shanan town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, from their positions in Al-Shamiyah on the western bank of the Euphrates River, following which, clashes erupted between both sides.
