Having been attacked by Israeli drone on Damascus-Beirut highway | Fate of commander of Hezbollah and his escort remains unknown

An Israeli drone attacked a car on Damascus-Beirut highway near the checkpoint of the 4th Division in Demas area in Rif Dimashq, which resulted in damaging and burning it. However, the fate of the two persons who were in the car, a commander of the Lebanese Hezbollah and his escort, remains unknown.

SOHR documented 39 attacks in 2024: 27 airstrikes and 12 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 79 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 131 combatants and injured 57 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 21 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  • 20 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • 12 Iraqi persons.

  • 28 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • Ten Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • 40 regime soldiers.

In addition, those attacks left 12 civilian, including two women, dead and nearly 20 other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 18 attacks.

  • Daraa: 13 attacks.

  • Homs: Three attacks.

  • Al-Quneitra: Three attacks.

  • Tartus: One attack.

  • Deir Ezzor: One attack.

  • Aleppo: One attack.

SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
