In 40th targeting since beginning of year | Israeli airstrikes target sites south and west of Homs

Homs province: Violent explosions were heard resulting from new Israeli airstrikes targeted a site near a gas station in Al-Auras area between Al-Assad suburb and Maskanah near Palmyra roundabout south of Homs city, “Ibn Al-Haytham” encampment, which is used by Iranian-backed militias, is located in the area. One of the Israeli strikes also targeted a site near Al-Nabighah Al-Thubyani School, north of the roundabout in Al-Qusair city, south-west of Homs, on the Syrian-Lebanese border. The area is controlled by the Lebanese “Hezbollah” militia. Columns of smoke rose from the targeted places, coinciding with a number of ambulances heading towards the targeted places, amid information about casualties.

SOHR documented 40 attacks in 2024: 28 airstrikes and 12 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 81 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 131 combatants and injured 57 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

• 21 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

• 20 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

• 12 Iraqi persons.

• 28 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

• Ten Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

• 40 regime soldiers.

In addition, those attacks left 12 civilian, including two women, dead and nearly 20 other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

• Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 18 attacks.

• Daraa: 13 attacks.

• Homs: Four attacks.

• Al-Quneitra: Three attacks.

• Tartus: One attack.

• Deir Ezzor: One attack.

• Aleppo: One attack.
