Deir Ezzor | SDF clashes with regime-backed gunmen on western bank of Euphrates River

Deir Ezzor province: Intermittent clashes with light and medium weapons erupted between members of SDF on one hand and regime-backed gunmen stationed on outskirts of Euphrates River in Al-Mayadeen City eastern of Deir Ezzor on the other hand. However, no casualties were reported.

Since the events of Deir Ezzor in late August, local gunmen have been attacking SDF positions, through infiltration operations and almost daily battles, which increases the security chaos and acts of sabotage.

After midnight on Saturday-Sunday, violent armed clashes erupted with heavy and medium weapons between members of SDF stationed at posts along the Euphrates River line, in Muhaimidah town in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor on the one hand, and Iranian-backed local gunmen on the other hand, in an attempt to Infiltrate towards SDF-held areas.
The gunmen also targeted the water station of Al-Safirah Tahtani town in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, which resulted in its burning.
SDF sent military reinforcements from the square of Al-Kasrah town towards their posts spread on the Euphrates River in the towns of Muhaimidah, Al-Jeneinah and Al-Hisan.
After midnight on Saturday-Sunday, SDF in Hawijat Al-Busayrah, east of Deir Ezzor, fired heavy artillery shells on regime forces’ positions on the western banks of the Euphrates.
For its part, the latter’s forces responded with similar bombardment on the sources of fire. No information about causalities and the extent of material damage was reported.
