Including most-wanted commander | Two ISIS officials arrested in security operation in east Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: Two ISIS officials were arrested in a security operation carried out by SDF in Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, after having monitored and tracked their movements in the region. The security forces found large quantities of weapons, ammunitions, mobile phones and documents on the arrested persons’ possession.

According to SOHR sources, one of the arrested officials is an Iraqi commander called “Faysal Ziyad Asfad,” aka “Mash’al Al-Iraqi,” and he is one of the most-wanted ISIS leaders in the region. “Faysal” was the assistant of the “Wali” (the ruler of a specific region in the Caliphate State) during ISIS control of the region.

The second official is called “Muhanad Khaled Al-Afi.”

The two officials, who are responsible for assassinations and attacks which targeted SDF members and civilians in Deir Ezzor, were taken to a security centre of SDF.

SDF and International Coalition Forces continue their security operations in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration in east and west Euphrates regions, persecuting ISIS affiliates in those areas.

On June 2, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that a member of ISIS cells called “Abdullah Mohammed Ibrahim,” aka “Abi Hisham,” was among the three individuals who were arrested during a security operation by International Coalition Forces and SDF on May 30 in Umm Jarn village in Tel Hames in southern Al-Hasakah countryside.

It is worth noting that the man was helping families of ISIS members, especially children and women, to escape from Al-Hawl camp in Al-Hasakah countryside.
