With escalation of protests against Al-Jolani | Latter removes commander of military wing and appoints himself as replacement

“Al-Jolani” appointed himself as the leader of the military wing of HTS, after the leader called Abu Al-Hassan Al-Hamawi was removed from his position, amid assurances that there were major disagreements between the leadership of HTS, in light of the escalation of the demonstrations demanding the departure of Al-Jolani, while those close to “HTS” stated that the leader submitted his resignation and it was accepted, after his arrest in the “agents case”.
It is noted that the military wing of HTS participated in suppressing peaceful demonstrators in the region, pursuing them and running over them with armoured vehicles.
The service also arrested dozens of military members, including first-line leaders.
The demands of the demonstrators have continued for four months, demanding the toppling of Al-Jolani, the end of injustice and the security grip, the release of innocent people in prisons and the opening of fronts, in addition to the release of all prisoners of conscience, the conduction of a prompt and fair trial for prisoners, the cessation of torture and the reduction in fees and taxes for civilians.
On June, the security services of HTS carried out a massive arrest campaign targeting 30 activists, on charges of inciting people to demonstrate against Al-Jolani and the leaders of HTS.
