For their humanitarian activities | Lebanese authorities arrest Syrian doctors, amid fears of their deportation to Syrian territory
The Lebanese authorities transferred seven Syrian doctors to the General Security in Beirut, days after summoning and detaining them in Tripoli, in northern Lebanon, amid fears of their deportation and handing them over to the Syrian regime, due to their humanitarian activities towards Syrians and Lebanese.
According to reliable SOHR sources Lebanese doctors filed a complaint against a health centre employing Syrian doctors because they treated both Lebanese and Syrian patients at symbolic prices.
The sources confirmed that all the doctors moved to Lebanon legally and have valid residency permits and passports.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights condemns the violations against humanitarian workers, especially doctors, and calls on the Lebanese authorities to stop these practices and the incitement campaigns by some Lebanese parties against Syrians. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also demands the release of Syrian detainees in Lebanese prisons and full adherence to international law that protects refugees and prevents their forced deportation without providing a humane environment for them.
