New Israeli attack | Two people killed and another seriously injured in attack by Israeli drone on Damascus-Beirut highway

Rif Dimashq province: Two people, believed to be members of the Lebanese Hezbollah, were killed and a third Syrian person was seriously injured due to an attack carried out by an Israeli drone targeting a car belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah near a military checkpoint of the 4th Division on Damascus-Beirut highway in Jdeidat Yabous area in Rif Dimashq.

It is worth noting that the Syrian person works as a driver for the Lebanese Hezbollah, where the car was burned down completely and the bodies of the dead members were charred inside the car.

Meanwhile, ambulances rushed to the targeted site, amid a state of high alert in the region.

SOHR documented 50 attacks in 2024: 37 airstrikes and 13 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 104 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 175 combatants and injured 90 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:

  • 23 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  • 36 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.

  • 18 Iraqi persons.

  • 43 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.

  • 14 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.

  • 40 regime soldiers.

  • One unidentified person.

In addition, those attacks left 16 civilians, including a little girl and three women, dead and nearly 36 other civilians injured.

The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 20 attacks.

  • Daraa: 13 attacks.

  • Homs: Seven attacks.

  • Al-Qunaitrah: Five attacks.

  • Tartous: Three attack.
