ISIS resurgence | Member of SDF shot dead by ISIS members in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside

Deir Ezzor province: An SDF member from Al-Baseiyrah city was shot dead by unidentified gunmen of ISIS in Al-Sabhah town in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

 

This comes in light of escalating attacks by ISIS members on positions within SDF-held areas, especially in eastern Euphrates region.

 

SOHR has documented 159 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks, executions and explosions targeting military and security forces, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 81 fatalities:

 

  • 51 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

  • 11 ISIS members.

 

  • Four guards worked for the Autonomous Administration.

 

  • 14 civilians, including a child and a witch.

 

  • A driver working for “Al-Qaterji” militia.

 

  • These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 136 attacks left 40 combatants, 13 civilians, including a child and a witch, seven ISIS members and a driver working for “Al-Qaterji” militia dead.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: 13 attacks left seven combatants, four ISIS members and a civilian dead.

 

  • Al-Raqqah: Nine attacks left six combatants and four guards of civil institutions of the Autonomous Administration dead.

 

  • Aleppo: One operation.
