To earn more profits | Electricity company of “HTS” raises its prices and residents in Idlib face stifling living crisis

Idlib province: The prices of electricity service in Idlib city and its countryside have increased, by a decision from the private company “Green Energy”, which is affiliated with “HTS”. The issued decision has provoked resentment and anger among the residents, which coincides with the deterioration of the living conditions, the lack of job opportunities and the rise in poverty rates to record levels.
According to SOHR activists, the price has increased from 0.12 to 0.14 US cents, which is approximately 5.5 Turkish liras after the increase per kilowatt of electricity, and this price is high compared to the prices of electricity in the areas of “Euphrates Shield” and “Olive Branch”, which makes the decision not serving the interests of the residents, but increases their suffering in light of the difficult economic conditions.
Moreover. the company imposed a cleanliness tax of 21 Turkish liras for each house served by electricity, while residents accused the electricity company of exploiting the situation and raising prices to increase the company’s profits, which benefit influential and supported people by HTS.
In addition, the company monopolizes the supply of electricity from Turkey and prevents other companies from working in the supply of electricity, in a clear exploitation of the situation after granting HTS-backed traders the right to control trade and raise prices to serve their interests.
It is worth noting that the residents of Idlib city and its countryside suffer from economic stagnation and difficult living conditions in light of the continuous rise in prices without any control by the Salvation Government.
