One of them forcibly deported from Turkey | Two young men killed inside “notorious” Saidnaya prison
A young man who defected from the regime forces, died under torture inside the “notorious” Saidnaya prison, eight months after his arrest in Aleppo city coming from northern Syria.
According to SOHR activists, the young man was from Ghabaghib town in Daraa countryside, where he headed to Turkey after defecting from the regime forces, to be forcibly deported from there by the Turkish authorities, and settled in the northern Syria areas for a while, then decided to return to Daraa province due to the lack of job opportunities, and he was arrested in Aleppo city.
In a related context, another young man from Qeisma village in Al-Suwaidaa countryside, died inside Saidnaya prison after the deterioration of his health, as a result of being subjected to torture, after three years of his arrest, as he was arrested on charges of kidnapping a civilian in July 2021, to move between several security branches before settling in Saidnaya prison.
According to SOHR statistics, the number of people who have died under torture in regime prisons and security centres since early 2024 has reached 35, including a political activist, a writer, a university student, an engineer and a civilian holding American citizenship.
