35 years later | Elder man kil*led for revenge in Al-Raqqa countryside

Al-Raqqa province: Gunmen opened fire on an elder man in Al-Ratla Village in southern Al-Raqqa countryside within SDF-held areas and killed him immediately, due to an old vendetta that goes back to 35 years ago, even though the case was resolved and blood money was paid back then.

The Syrian Observatory has documented 90 murder crimes in SDF-controlled areas since early 2024, where domestic violence and armed robbery were behind some of these murders, while motivations behind the others remained unknown. These murders left 95 civilian fatalities, including 70 men, 11 children and 14 women; they are distributed regionally as follows:

Al-Hasakah: 28 civilians, including four children and five women.

Deir Ezzor: 33 civilians, including three children and four women.

Al-Raqqah: 25 civilians, including four children and four women.

Aleppo: Nine civilians; seven men and a woman in Manbij and a man in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani).
