Aleppo | Anger grows among members of pro-Turkey factions due to delay in their salary payments
Aleppo province: SOHR sources have reported a state of discontent among pro-Turkey factions due to the delay in paying their monthly salaries, although the funds reached the factions’ leaders 11 days ago. Those factions included the divisions of “Al-Sultan Murad, “Al-Sultan Suleiman Shah,” “Al-Hamzah,” “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah,” “Jaysh Al-Nukhbah,” “Jaysh Al-Islam” and other factions operating under the banner of the “National Army.”
According to reliable SOHR sources, the salaries of militiamen vary from a faction to another, but most of these salaries are estimated to be 2,000 Turkish lira, equivalent to 60 USD.
Meanwhile, the recruitment of militiamen and sending them as mercenaries to fight alongside Turkey in other countries continue. It is worth noting that those mercenaries are given initial monthly salaries exceeding 2,500 USD, but Turkish authorities later deduct these salaries, exploiting the severe poverty and lack of job opportunities in north Syrian region.
On May 11, SOHR sources reported that Turkish intelligence began reducing the monthly salaries allocated to the members, similar to what it did with former members it recruited to fight in Libya, where all the members currently in Niger were given a monthly salary of 40,000 Turkish liras, equivalent to 1,250 USD, noting that the salary agreed upon with Fighters is 1,500 USD.
