Ongoing violations | Military police arbitrarily arrest two civilians in Afrin countryside

Aleppo province: Members of a patrol of the military police arrested two civilians from Ghazzawiyah village and Jendires district for unknown reasons.

 

On the other hand, “Sultan Murad” faction released a civilian from Afrin, after having forced him to pay a ransom of 2,000 USD. The civilian was arrested when he asked for taking back his house which had been seized by members of “Sultan Murad” faction.

 

On August 13, SOHR sources reported that the factions’ members in Al-Sheikh Hadid district in Afrin countryside, imposed new financial royalties on the residents, where anyone who digs a new water well is required to pay 1,000 USD, 100 USD on anyone who owns a well,100 USD on every houseowner, and 300 USD on every shop owner. The residents were given a deadline to pay these royalties under the threat of arms.
