Attempting to exert pressure on regime forces to release detainees | Residents from Daraa threaten to escalate the situation

Daraa province: Members of local groups blocked all roads to Da’el city, amid a state of high alert. This follows the arrest of a young man by members of the regime air-force intelligence branch stationed at a checkpoint in Al-Malihah Al-Gharniyah town.

The members of local groups have given regime forces a time limit until evening, threatening to escalate the situation, in the case that their demands were not fulfilled.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that violent clashes erupted in Mahja Town northern of Daraa between members of the State Security of the regime on one hand and local fighters on the other hand, after the fighters attacked a branch of the State Security in the town to pressure them to release the young man, who was arrested at a security checkpoint in Aleppo last Friday, as he was returning from northern of Syria towards Daraa. However, no casualties were reported.

A day earlier, SOHR sources reported that gunmen attacked with machineguns a checkpoint belonging to regime forces in Eib town in Daraa countryside, following the arrest of two young men on “Al-Sahem Meiyah” checkpoint in the western of Al-Aleiyah neighbourhood in Jassem city in western Daraa countryside.
