New batch of forcibly deported Syrians | Turkish authorities deport nearly 147 Syrian refugees to northern Syria
Since the beginning of 2024, areas in northern Syria have witnessed an increase in the number of forcibly deported people from Turkey towards Syrian territory, through Bab Al-Salamah crossing. Most of these deported individuals are families who fled from the ongoing conflict and destruction in search of safety and stability, but they experience an uncertain future amid difficult living conditions and a lack of adequate support.
In this context, Turkish authorities forcibly deported 147 Syrian refugees from “Imlan” detention center in Gaziantep towards Bab Al-Salamah border crossing, where their fate remains unknown.
Turkey forcibly deport more than 100 Syrians daily through border crossings, most of whom have temporary protection cards “Kimlik”, to settle them in areas controlled by Turkish forces and their proxies in “Euphrates Shield,” “Olive Branch” and “Peace Spring.” Turkish authorities seek to legitimize their presence in the regions they have occupied as a result of military operations.
