Attempting to collect “zakat” by force | ISIS attacks shops belonging to civilian in eastern Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor province: two gunmen of an ISIS cell on a motorcycle opened fire on shops belonging to a civilian in Al-Shahil city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor in order to force him to pay “zakat.” However, no casualties have been reported.

 

SOHR has documented 192 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks, executions and explosions targeting military and security forces, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 88 fatalities:

 

  • 54 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.

 

  • 12 ISIS members.

 

  • 22 civilians, including a child, a witch and four guards of civil institutions.

 

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

 

  • Deir Ezzor: 169 attacks left 41 combatants, 16 civilians, including a child, a witch and a young woman, and eight ISIS members dead.

 

  • Al-Hasakah: 13 attacks left seven combatants, four ISIS members and a civilian dead.

 

  • Al-Raqqah: Nine attacks left six combatants and five civilians, including four guards of civil institutions of the Autonomous Administration, dead.

 

  • Aleppo: One operation left no fatalities.
