Protesting arrest of young man | Local factions block roads and prevent military vehicles from reaching barracks in Daraa countryside

Daraa province: SOHR activists have reported a state of tension in Nawa city in western Daraa, where members of local factions blocked public roads, protesting the arrest of a young man in Al-Quneitra province a week ago.

The protestors blocked a military vehicle affiliated to the 112th Brigade delivering bread to neighbouring military barracks.

The protestors demanded immediate release of the young man, threatening to escalate the situation and launch attacks against regime forces in city in the case that their demands were not fulfilled.

Local faction have frequently blocked roads and detained regime soldiers and officers to exert pressure on regime forces to release prisoners, at a time when the region experiences growing public anger over the ongoing arrest of civilians.

On September 2, SOHR sources reported that the security services arrests a woman in her 50s of “Abo Nabot” Family in Daraa, on Naseeb Crossing on borders with Jordan and she was taken to a security branch.

In return, factions mobilized in Daraa and gave the regime a period of one hour to release the woman, where residents formed a delegation of tribes of Daraa to release the woman, in light of tension and discontent.
