Violent pushbacks | Turkish Jandarma open fire on civilians seeking safe haven in Ain Al-Arab (Kobani), killing and injuring two young men
Aleppo province: Turkish border guards (Jandarma) opened fire on six young men seeking a safe haven, while attempting to cross the Syria-Turkey border in Qarrah Mugh village in the east of Ain Al-Arab (Kobani) in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. The attack left a young man dead and another injured, and he was taken to the hospital.
Accordingly, the number of civilians killed by Turkish border guards (Jandarma) since early 2024 in different areas near the Syria-Turkey border has increased to 14. In addition, 28 civilians, including a little girl, were injured in gunfire by Turkish Jandarma in the same period. The fatalities are distributed regionally as follows:
- Areas controlled by Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions: Six civilians, including a child.
- Areas controlled by “Peace Spring” operations room: Two civilians.
- Areas controlled by “Manbij Military Council Forces”: One civilian.
- SDF-controlled areas: Four civilians: one in Kobani and one in Al-Hasakah countryside.
