In Israeli aggression on civilian building in Damascus | Nine civilians including four children martyred
Damascus province: The number of civilian martyrs, as a result of the Israeli bombing of a civilian building in Al-Mazzeh neighbourhood in Damascus, last night, October 8, increased to nine, including four children. They are: A Yemeni doctor and his family consisting of his wife and three children, and a young female doctor, a woman and his child and a man, where the targeting destroyed the upper, first, second and third floors.
Four others were also killed, including two from the Lebanese “Hezbollah”, as a result of the direct targeting of an apartment frequented by the leaders of “Axis of Resistance”, in addition to cars parked in front of the building. This is the most violent Israeli targeting operation since the destruction of a building attached to the Iranian embassy in the same area, bringing the death toll to ten people and the injury of more than ten others.
SOHR documented 104 attacks in 2024: 85 airstrikes and 19 rocket attacks by ground forces, during which Israel targeted several positions in Syria, destroying nearly 190 targets, including buildings, weapons and ammunitions warehouses, headquarters, centres and vehicles. These strikes killed 257 combatants and injured 179 others. The fatalities are distributed as follows:
• 25 Iranian members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
• 47 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
• 28 Iraqi persons.
• 75 Iranian-backed Syrian militiamen.
• 24 Iranian-backed non-Syrian militiamen.
• 56 regime soldiers.
• Two unidentified people killed in a building in Al-Mazzeh
In addition, those attacks left 39 civilians, including (Yemeni doctor and his wife and three children, a woman, a child and a man who all killed in a targeting of a building in Al-Mazzeh), two children and eight women, dead and nearly 48 other civilians injured.
It is worth noting that one of those attacks killed Baraa Al-Qaterji, a prominent businessman close to Iranians, and his cousin.
The attacks are distributed regionally as follows:
• Damascus and Rif Dimashq: 44 attacks.
• Daraa: 17 attacks.
• Homs: 22 attacks.
• Al-Quneitra: Nine attacks.
• Tartus: Three attacks.
• Deir Ezzor: Five attacks.
• Aleppo: Two attacks.
• Hama: Three attacks.
• Al-Suwaidaa: One attack.
• Latakia: One attack.
SOHR would like to point out that Israel sometimes targeted more than one province in a single attack.
