Second attack in Idlib in 2025 | Jihadist killed in attack by Coalition drone

A weaponized drone of the International Coalition attacked a car on Sarmada-Idlib road near Batabu town in the northern countryside of Idlib, killing the person driving the car, who was believed to be a commander of “Hurras al-Din” organization.

This is the second attack of its kind in Idlib countryside in 2025.

On January 16, SOHR sources reported that a student died of the wounds he sustained yesterday when a drone of the International Coalition attacked an ISIS member who was riding his motorcycle on the road to Al-Qal’ah camp in north-western Sarmada city in Idlib countryside. Accordingly, the number of people killed in this attack has increased to three.

A day earlier, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that the person, who was killed in the airstrikes by “International Coalition” aircraft in Idlib countryside, was called Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Thiban from Sheikh Idris village near Saraqib in eastern Idlib province. He was affiliated with ISIS and later with “Jund Al-Aqsa” before retiring from military activity.

SOHR sources had reported that a drone of the International Coalition targeted, with three missiles, a motorcycle with at least one person on it on the road to Al-Qal’ah camp to the north-west of Sarmada city near the Syria-Turkey border. The attack left two persons dead and another man who was near the targeted site injured.
