SOHR had been informed that the Air Force Intelligence Branch in the city of Homs has still detained since yesterday the leading figure in the peaceful and democratic movement Muhammad Saleh (Abo Ali) who is 57 years old. SOHR had been also informed that after the Air Force Intelligence personnel searched his home seizing his computer and mobile, no information about the reasons of arrest so far.

It is noted that Muhammad Saleh was arrested in 1987 and stayed in jail until 2000, where he was accused of belonging to the Communist Labor Party. He was also arrested by the Air Force Intelligence Branch at the beginning of the Syrian revolution for participating in the peaceful and democratic movement.

SOHR call on Mr. Staffan de Mistura to intervene immediately in order to release him and all prisoners of conscience from Bashar al- Assad’s jails, where some are trying to promote him and that he accepts to transfer Syria to the democracy although he is still detaining more than 200000 people, 20000 of them are missing.
