Communications are still cut off from the central prison of Hama which is witnessing since yesterday a revolt by hundreds of prisoners, who were able to detain Hama police chief and director of the Central Prison of Hama and 9 other members yesterday, where the prisoners demanded for all of them to be released at once in one batch, without trial and without delay by the prison’s authorities, and by guaranties of international parties and organizations, while the regime continue to cut off electricity, water and communications from the Central Prison amid attempts took place yesterday night to break into the prison, in conjunction with the launch of tear gas on the prisoners which injured a prisoner at least.

With communications cut off from the Central Prison of Hama, and the tense situation inside, we in the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights express our concerns for the lives of more than 700 prisoners and detainees the Central Prison of Hama, and we fear that these prisoners meet the fate of more than 60 thousand prisoners who were killed by the regime’s security authorities in its jails and security branches during the last five years.
