Syrian Govt air attacks in Aleppo ‘killed 1963 people’ in 2014

Almost 2000 people lost their lives in air attacks in Aleppo committed by government forces in 2014, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) argues.

As many as 283 woman and 567 children are included in the death toll, the organization reports as quoted by Al Jazeera.

“Barrel bombs” are used by government forces as a measure to crack down the rebellion in the northern city, which was once the country’s economic heart but has been the scene of violence since 2012.

Rebels and Bashar al-Assad’s regime are taking turns to seize control of different parts of Aleppo.

SOHR says an average of 14 people die every day in the city because of these air raids.

Data by the activist group suggests that Syria’s civil war, which began after Damascus’s move to quell mass protests in 2011, has taken the lives of more that 162 000.
