Two months of the raging battle of Manbij… hundreds of civilian casualties… Tens of thousands of displaced, flee people and besieged… and more than a thousand fighters killed

Military operations did not subside in Manbij city and its countryside between The Syria Democratic Forces backed by helicopter of the international coalition, who are trying to take control of Manbij city from the “Islamic state” whom they are fighting against in an attempt to expel ISIS out of it, ISIS is controlling about 60% of the city; after the advancement of the Syria Democratic Forces inside the city, SDF took control of the neighborhoods of al-Hazwanah, al-Kajlah and Al-Jazeera roundabout, al-Mostawsef neighborhood, the Ghassaniya School area, the western part of the city and several alleys and other areas within the city, and this advancement since the 31st of May 2016 was accompanied with heavy bombardment by the warplanes of the international coalition and heavy frequent exchange of shelling and detonating mines planted by the organization in the homes and streets of the city, to impede the advancement of these forces and to inflict the biggest possible number of casualties in their ranks, also about 20 thousand civilians including thousands of children and women were able to escape from areas controlled by the “Islamic State” to areas  under the control of Syria Democratic Forces, but still tens of thousands of others remain within the city, living difficult humanitarian, food and sanitary conditions, amid the lack of a lot of food required for survival…

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights managed to document the death of 399 civilian citizens, including 98 children under the age of eighteen, and 50 citizen women over the age of 18 since the 31st of May 2016 until the 31st of July 2016, where it rose to 199, including 52 children and 18 citizen women and 8 prisoners, the number of Syrians civilian casualties who were killed by the international coalition’s warplanes in the city of Manbij and its countryside during the past two months, also the airstrikes at the city of Manbij and its countryside resulted in hundreds of injuries, some of them are still dangerous situations.

also it rose to 200, including 46 children under the age of eighteen, and 32 citizen women over the age of 18, the number of civilian casualties who were killed in shelling by the “Islamic State”, the fire of their snipers, heavy machineguns and the explosion of mines planted by the organization in the city, its outskirts and countryside, and by shelling by the Syria Democratic Forces and the fire of their snipers, and because of the explosion of booby trapped vehicles.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also documented in the same period the death of 203 of Syria Democratic Forces’ fighters, including the commander in this troops and the commander of Shams al-Shamal Brigades Faisal Al Saadoun, known also “Abu Laila”, all of them were killed in shelling, the explosion of booby trapped vehicles and sniper fire in the city of Manbij and its countryside.

Also the Observatory documented the killing of 837 members and commanders at least from the “Islamic State”, they were killed in bombing by the warplanes of the international coalition and the clashes against The Syria Democratic Forces in Manbij city and its countryside since the end of last May until today.
