The “Islamic State” advances in new areas at Deir Ezzor and the intense raids on the city and its vicinity continue

Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was informed that the violent clashes are still taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against the “Islamic State” organization, after the attack the most violent attack by the “Islamic State” organization in nearly a year at the city of Deir Ezzor and its surroundings since the dawn of yesterday the 14th of January 2017, the clashes are concentrated in the neighborhoods of al-Mowazzafin, al-Ommal and al-Bogeleyyah in the city and its northwestern outskirts, in conjunction with clashes in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor airbase and the Mountain overlooking the city and the area around Panorama roundabout, and clashes were accompanied by tens of airstrikes by warplanes which targeted the clash areas and areas controlled by the organization in the city and its vicinity, where members of the “Islamic State” organization were able to achieve advancement in the Jam’eyyat al-Rowwad and the mountain overlooking Deir Ezzor city, after advancing yesterday at the cemetery and in points in the vicinity of the airbase, also areas in Deir Ezzor city were violently shelled by the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, in conjunction with shelling villages of al-Ji’aa, Husseiniya and al-Jninah in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, while the “Islamic State” organization targeted suing tens of shells areas in neighborhoods controlled by the regime forces in the city, these shells have killed 3 citizens -including a woman-  and wounded several others, also the clashes of yesterday have killed 12 member of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and 20 fighters of the organization, in addition to injuring tens on both parties.

This attack is considered the most violent in Deir Ezzor since the “Islamic state” attack back in mid-January last year 2016 on the city, during of which the organization controlled large parts of al-Bogeleyyah area at ​​the northwest of Deir Ezzor city, and killed and executed nearly 150 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and of families of NDF and national army members and members of the Baath Party from the city, in addition to kidnapping more than 400 people from the neighborhood and from northwest of Deir Ezzor, they were civilians and families of the gunmen loyal to the regime.
