Continuous shelling target Daraa city and clashes continue in Manshiya neighborhood

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
Clashes are taking place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against the rebel and Islamic Factions and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in Manshiya neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad in the city of Daraa, amid continuous shelling and bombardment by the regime forces, helicopters and warplanes on places in the city and on areas controlled by the factions, and the regime forces are trying to regain control of the areas they lost, while the factions managed to achieve advancement in two locations used to be controlled by the regime forces, and information about more casualties the ranks of both parties.

The factions which announced the battle of “al-Mawt Wala al-Mathallah” aimed to complete the control of Manshiya neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad, of which the factions already controlled parts of it, and the factions were able to in the past three days to control al-Najjar Block between the roundabout of al-Kaziyyeh and west of Manshiya Mosque in Manshiya neighborhood in the city of Daraa, and clashes were accompanied by detonating 2 fighters of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham for themselves in 2 booby trapped vehicles targeting positions of the regime forces, amid heavy exchange of shelling between both parties.

This continuous clashes since the 12th of February 2017 until today the 15th of February 2017, have left tens of civilian casualties, as well as casualties in the ranks of the factions and the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the death of 14 civilian citizens, they are 6 children, 3 citizen women and 2 men were killed in the shelling by the regime forces and bombing by warplanes on areas in the neighborhoods of Tariq al-Sadd and Manshiya in the city of Daraa, and 3 including 2 children were killed in the fall of shells launched by factions on areas controlled by the regime forces in the city of Daraa, also the Observatory documented the death of 21 members at least of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them including 2 officers, while 35 -including a military commander- of the factions and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham and also the death of 2 of non-Syrian nationalities (one of them is a military commander) and 2 members blew themselves up in booby trapped vehicles in the shelling and clashes in the neighborhood of Manshiya in Daraa al-Balad, and tens of others were wounded in the ranks of both parties, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation.

Pictures by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights show the smoke caused when several warplanes carried out airstrikes on areas west of Yadudeh town in Daraa, which injured several people.
