After 38 days of the counter attack… the regime forces reduce the distance to 16 kilometers between the areas they advanced to and Palmyra city

Homs Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
Violent clashes continue in western desert of Palmyra, with the continuation of the violent attack by the regime forces for the 38th day in a row, since their start for the counter attack in the 14th of January 2017, in an attempt to restore what they lost since the 8th of December 2016 to the “Islamic State” organization, and the regime forces after stepping up the pace of their offensive in the recent days managed to achieve advancement in the western desert of Palmyra, and control several villages and farms in al-Bayyarat area located on the road connecting the triangle of Palmyra and T4 airbase, and by that the regime forces were able to reduce the distance between them and Palmyra city to about 16 km, where the clashes were accompanied by intensive airstrikes carried out by the warplanes and helicopters.
