More than 160 civilians and fighters were killed during 9 days of the clash between Daraa’s factions against Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
The violent attack by Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid has entered its 9th day in a row in the western countryside of Daraa, and it is extending towards the countryside of Nawa city in the northwestern countryside of Daraa city, where Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid which swore allegiance to the “Islamic State” organization and operates in Yarmouk area west of Daraa, was able to achieve advancement at the expense of the rebel and Islamic factions, taking control of several towns, hills and sites, including Tasil and Sahem al-Golan and other areas, following the sudden and violent attack carried out on 20th of February 2017.

The 24 past hours has seen violent clashes between the faction who operate in the western countryside of Daraa against fighters of Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid, accompanied by hit-and-run clashes that took place between both parties, with exchange of artillery and missile strikes, in which each party targeted the other party’s sites, while Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid was able to re-advance, and recovered Tal al-Jumou’ and Jellin town and al-Mzyr’aa village, just hours after being controlled by the factions.

These military operations and the violent clashes between both parties have caused a large number of casualties, where since the 20th of February 2017 and until today the 28th of the same month, where it rose to 163 at least, the number of civilians and fighters of the factions and Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid; who were killed in the western countryside of Daraa during the period mentioned above, were 11 civilians including 4 children, were killed in the clashes and at the hands of Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid during its control of areas in the western countryside of Daraa, and in the fall of shells and gunshots between both parties, and 104 fighters of the rebel and Islamic factions, including several commanders, while it rose to 48, the number of members of Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid, also these clashes caused tens of injuries in the ranks of both parties as well as the civilians.
