A loyal-to-regime group of thieves tried to dismantle and steal water pumps of al-Khafseh station was arrested; widespread resentment prevails due to steal operations in tens of villages in the eastern countryside of Aleppo

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was informed by several local sources in the eastern countryside of Aleppo that resentment widely prevails this countryside, after the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syria nationalities were able to control more than 140 village since the 17th of January 2017, the sources confirmed to the observatory that the resentment prevails because of the successive operations of stealing carried out by groups of gunmen loyal to the regime, confirming to the observatory that homes, shops and other property of the citizens are stolen in al-Khafseh town and in villages in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, also reliable sources reported to the Syrian Observatory that these thefts exceeded the property of citizens by a group of the gunmen loyal to the regime and tried to dismantle the water pumps in al-Khafseh Station and transport it in order to be sold, where another group of the regime forces arrested them and took them to an unknown destination.

This robbery came in conjunction with anticipation of about 1.5 million persons in Aleppo city for the start of re-pumping water to the city, which is suffering from thirst for nearly 8 weeks, as a result of cutting off the water by the “Islamic State” organization which used to control the station earlier, and the people’s dissatisfaction came after justifications by the regime and government authorities that cutting off the water of Aleppo was caused by a power outage of the pumping water stations in the countryside of Aleppo.
