Continued military operations in the Syrian desert and regime forces advance over IS

SOHR continue observing the military operations by regime forces backed by non Syrian militiamen in the Syrian desert in the eastern countryside of Homs, in an attempt to advance in Tadmur western desert across the northern, southern and eastern sections of the area after a failure to advance over IS which still taking control on al-Maher, Shaer and Jazal oil fields

Changing the battle fronts by regime forces allowed it to advance under dozens of airstrikes in Tadmur city securing the city against IS, amid advances in Tadmur valley 20km from the city and 18km east of the city reaching 13km from the southern section of the city, as it took control on al-Mostadira mount, Gazha fields, al-Hari castle, Tadmur silos, Sabkha al-Mokh, the electricity station and part of alMazar mount.

The military operation that started in the 14th of March entering the 3rd month as it began in 14 January 2017, after loosing areas for the IS in the 8th of December 2016, when IS took control on wide areas including the T4 military airport, the regime re-took control on the areas including Tadmur city after counter attacks crossing al-Biarat and Tadmur triangle, and it took control on Jazal oil filed in the 6th of March 2017 before loosing wide areas of it for the IS which counter attacked the area.
