After it stopped for about 11 days… Euphrates dam works again after opening its gates

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights was informed by several reliable sources that the strategic Dam of Euphrates returned to work after being stopped since the 26th of March 2017, as a result of the breakdown of the control and operation room of the dam which also controls its turbines, and the control and operation room is still under the control the “Islamic State” organization.

Reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that a team from the Syrian Red Crescent and the Dam staff entered the main body and turbines of the Euphrates Dam through areas controlled by the “Islamic State” organization, and they were able to open 4 gates of the dam, and then they were closed down, but 2 gates remained open, then later the 4 gates were opened, where opening the gates made the water flow in its course heading east, and the water returned to Al-Raqqah city and to villages in its countryside.
