About 25 fighters of the Syria Democratic Forces were killed and tens were wounded in clashes of al-Tabaqa during the past 48 hours

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that 25 fighters at least of the Syria Democratic Forces were killed and documented by the Syrian Observatory, while tens of others were injured in the violent clashes that took place between the Syria Democratic Forces, US Special Forces and International Coalition’s warplanes against the “Islamic State” organization, in areas in the eastern and southeastern countryside of Al-Tabaqa west of Al-Raqqah, and several reliable sources confirmed to the Observatory that the violent clashes in the past 48 hours have also Injured and killed members of the “Islamic State” organization.

The countryside of al-Tabaqa which is adjacent to the strategic Dam of Euphrates in the western countryside of Al-Raqqah is witnessing hit-and-run clashes between both parties, in an attempt by the organization to repel the attacks, while the Syria Democratic Forces are trying to advance and reach al-Tabaqa city in order to control it, these clashes are accompanied by intense exchange of shelling between both parties, and bombing by warplanes of the International Coalition on the “Islamic State” organization’s controlled areas.

In the same context, the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah is witnessing shelling by the Syria Democratic Forces within the framework of the 4th phase announced by these forces on the 13th of April 2017, paving the way for a military operation to clamp down on the “Islamic State” organization, and reduce its controlled areas and get closer to Al-Raqqah city, in preparation to take over the city which is the target of the Syria Democratic Forces since the beginning of the “Euphrates Wrath” operation on the 6th of November 2016.
